Congratulations on your
new piercing.

Dra. Piercing is here to help with your aftercare. We want your piercing to heal beautifully.

Dra. Piercing's aftercare tips

Your daily routine: Gently clean once a day with saline solution and a cotton bud. In the first days, cold saline compresses help relieve swelling and redness.

What to avoid: Touching the jewellery with dirty hands, twisting or forcing it, sleeping on the piercing, and swimming in the sea or pools (for at least 2 weeks — the water is contaminated).

Foods that don't help: Chocolate, seafood, avocado, fatty foods and excessive alcohol.

Avoid for the first 15 days: Shrimp, pork and pork products: they can cause inflammation and slow healing.

Extra care for ear piercings: Take care when brushing your hair and putting on masks or glasses. Don't use earbuds that touch the piercing (daith, tragus, conch); over-ear headphones that press on the ear are off-limits until healed. A travel pillow helps you sleep.

Downsizing:

After 1 month, come back to Dra. Piercing so we can adjust your jewellery. Downsizing means swapping the post for a shorter one, because the initial swelling has gone down. This stops the jewellery from moving, reduces snagging, improves healing and keeps the piercing from healing at an angle. Downsizing is part of the healing process.

Laser therapy:

It supports healing, reduces inflammation and relieves pain, swelling and discomfort. It also helps with bumps (granulomas) and oedema. Safe, painless and non-invasive. Every piercing includes 1 session.

Care by piercing type

Navel: Wear light, comfortable clothes without tight high waists. Avoid sitting with your navel compressed for long periods and exercises that cause friction (sit-ups). Clean with saline after sweating.

Nipple: Light cotton bras, avoid sleeping on your front, dry well after showering and watch for clothes that snag. No contact with the mouth while healing.

Tongue: Cold or lukewarm food; avoid hot, acidic or spicy food. Brush after every meal and use alcohol-free mouthwash. Avoid kissing and alcohol for the first days.

Nose: Be careful blowing your nose, keep cosmetics and creams away from the piercing, clean after dust exposure and watch towels and glasses.

Female intimate: Loose, comfortable clothing; clean once a day and dry well after showering. Avoid saliva, pulling and knocks. Avoid intimate contact for the first 30 days.

Warning signs and questions
What are the warning signs?

Excessive redness, strong pain, swelling or yellow discharge. Come to Dra. Piercing for an assessment or message us on WhatsApp.

What is laser therapy for?

It supports healing, reduces inflammation and relieves pain, swelling and discomfort; it also helps with bumps (granulomas) and oedema. It is safe, painless and non-invasive. Every piercing already includes 1 session.

Can I remove the piercing while it heals?

It's not recommended: the hole can close quickly and re-opening it causes more irritation.

If you have any question or concern, message us on WhatsApp or drop by the studio. We are always happy to help you look after your piercing!
